Hyderabad: A man was held by the police for allegedly harassing a woman by sending lewd messages, pictures on ‘Whatsapp’.
The accused Pavan Kumar, 40, who runs a consultancy, is a resident of Rasoolpura. The 30-year-old victim is a housewife and a resident of Tilaknagar.
Police said, for past some days, Pavan has been sending vulgar messages to her and expressed his wish to meet her.
The victim alerted the police. A trap was laid to nab the accused on Sunday. “The victim on a plan responded to his messages and asked him to meet at a coffee shop in Somajiguda. No sooner did he come to the place than he was arrested,” said S. Mohan, inspector of police, Panjagutta.
Based on the victim’s complaint, a case was registered under The Criminal Amendment Act and Sections 420(Cheating), 419 (Punishment for cheating by personation), 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and other relevant Sections of the IPC and being investigated.
Cops are yet to know how the accused got her number.
