DMK activists arrested for attack on journalists outside M K Stalin's house

Journalists claim DMK party workers trashed them, damaged cameras

Chennai: Police have arrested 11 DMK party workers for attack on journalists outside the residence of M K Stalin.

The arrested DMK leaders have been booked for attempt to murder on the journalists.

The incident occurred after DMK supporters gathered outside Stalin’s house urging him to not resign from party posts after the party’s rout in the Lok Sabha elections.

Journalists claim DMK party workers trashed them and also damaged their cameras.

Taking moral responsibility for the party's rout in the Lok Sabha elections, DMK Treasurer and party chief M Karunanidhi's son M K Stalin on Sunday offered to quit party posts, but made a U-turn within hours after the party high command advised him against doing so.

However, Stalin's decision to resign drew ridicule from his elder brother, the expelled Madurai-based strongman M K Alagiri, who dubbed it as a "drama".

Stalin condemned the attack on Twitter and said that ‘external elements’ were responsible for the attack. The party also issued a statement on the attack.
