PMEAC chairman Dr C Rangarajan has handed over his resignation

Mumbai: The Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council Chairman Dr C Rangarajan has handed over his resignation on Monday, May 19, to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He personally met and handed over his resignation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

As per sources, all the PMEAC members, V S Vyas, Saumitra Chaudhuri, Dilip M Nachane, and Pulin B Nayak, are also said to put in their resignation letters shortly.

Dr Rangarajan is a well-known economist and former member of the parliament and has been the PMEAC since 2005. He had earlier served as the Governer in the Reserve Bank of India from 1992 to 1997.

Dr. C Rangarajan was a professional economist. Prior to his appointment as the Governor, he held charge as Deputy Governor for over a decade. He was also a member of the Planning Commission and a member of the Tenth Finance Commission in the Reserve Bank.
