Woman chases flasher 3 km, gets him nabbed

Accused turns out to be a fully qualified CA

Bengaluru: What should have been a quiet evening in Dollar’s Colony, Bengaluru’s suburbia, gave way to a thrilling chase, as a young woman managed to put a pervert behind bars. In another twist to the tale, Vandhana, the victim, said she couldn’t have done it without the encouragement she got from the cops at Sanjaynagar police station.

At about 7.45 pm on Wednesday, Vandhana Supriya, a 27 year-old Odissi dancer, was walking with her younger sister. When she stopped to answer a phone call, Vandhana noticed a man lurking in the shadows, leering at them from within the park. “When he saw us, he dropped his pants,” she said. The dancer said that while she was used to being eveteased, however at that moment, something snapped. She strode into the park toward the man, startling him as she demanded an explanation. “As soon as he saw me, he ran,” she said.

Furious, Vandhana set off in hot pursuit. Spurred on by his insolence, Vandhana chased after the man on foot for about three km. She finally caught sight of two policemen on a bike who rushed to her aid at once. With their help, the perpetrator was caught in a couple of minutes. The cops proved more than sympathetic to her cause, she said. The culprit, Prashanth Vinay, turned out to be a fully qualified CA.
