Election Commission orders repolling in 29 booths of Andhra Pradesh

Of the 29 polling stations, 12 are in Telangana and the rest in Seemaandhra

Hyderabad: Election Commission on Saturday night ordered re-polling on 29 polling stations on 13th May in Telangana and Seemaandhra regions of Andhra Pradesh where polling was held on April 30 and May 7.

"Based on the reports submitted by the state Chief Electoral Officer and the respective Returning Officers, as well as complaints received from the contesting candidates, the EC declares the polling held in these polling stations as void and orders repolling," an EC order said.

Of the 29 polling stations, 12 are in Telangana and the rest in Seemaandhra.

Repolling will be conducted in these polling stations on May 13, according to a release from CEO Bhanwar Lal. Interestingly, repoll has been ordered in only one polling station under Jammalamadugu Assembly segment in Kadapa district where alleged YSR Congress workers attacked an IPS officer and police personnel besides indulging in violent Acts.

Telugu Desam Party had sought repoll in 38 polling stations citing violence and booth capturing by YSRC, but the Election Commission did not concede the demand.
