Why Mani Ratnam’s film failed

Ace director’s planned bilingual, got a no from two T’wood biggies

Hyderabad: The highly-anticipated Mahesh Babu, Nagarjuna and Mani Ratnam film seems to have failed to take off.

Recently, it was claimed that Mani Ratnam would be directing Mahesh and Nagarjuna in the Telugu and Tamil bilingual. Nag, and even Mani Ratnam’s wife Suhasini, had confirmed the news.

Also, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shruti Haasan had been approached to play the female leads and the shoot was supposed to start this year.

But now, sources say both Mahesh and Nag have expressed “reservations” over the script. This is despite both stars agreeing in principle to do the film. Apparently, they were both waiting for the final script to arrive.

It has now been revealed that Mahesh was the first to opt out of the film due to script issues and Nagarjuna soon followed after he told close associates that the script wasn’t really his thing.

Both actors have other projects to focus on. Mahesh Babu is currently busy with Aagadu and Nagarjuna is awaiting the release of Manam.
