Hyderabad Cricket Association told to hold AGM by the book

The Green Turf Cricket Club complained that HCA had postponed the Annual General Meeting

Hyderabad: Elections to the Hyderabad Cricket Association are set to be held this month after a court order directed the cricket body to follow the rulebook. The Green Turf Cricket Club moved the Ranga Reddy District Court with a petition complaining that the HCA had postponed the Annual General Meeting, which, according to the constitution, is to be conducted on the last Sunday of May. The HCA had addressed a letter to affiliated Clubs stating that the AGM was being postponed in view of the IPL matches to be held in Hyderabad — home team Sunrisers Hyderabad are scheduled to play games on May 10, 12, 18 and 20 at HCA’s Rajiv Gandhi Stadium.

Green Turf contended that the postponement of the AGM was against the rule book. “Whether the bye laws permit the executive committee of the respondent association (HCA) to postpone the AGM or not, the fact remains that the AGM has to be conducted only as per the bye laws... though not inclined to issue specific direction to conduct the AGM on 25th, this court is of the opinion that a direction can be given to the respondent to conduct AGM as per the laws,” the order of the District & Sessions Judge, read.
