Venkaiah Naidu rejects opposition linking Modi into Assam violence as 'absurd'

Naidu attacked Congress for not taking steps in time to contain the violence

Visakhapatnam: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday termed it absurd on dragging the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to the Assam violence.

Responding to Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah's accusations on Saturday indirectly linking Narendra Modi for his comments on Bangladeshi immigrants and the Assam violence, Naidu said, "These people are obsessed with Narendra Modi; some of them have become crazy in making personal allegation. There is a Congress government in Assam and Omar Abdullah is supporting Congress blindly are accusing others; people are weeping and Congress is silent how can they accuse him (Modi)? These are all absurd and meaningless allegations and nobody will take them seriously."

Naidu also attacked the Congress led government for not taking steps in time to contain the violence between the Bodos and the minority community.

"That is a violence between the Bodos and the local minorities. Government should have intervened in time and should have taken effective measures to stop violence, but it did not do so," Naidu said.

The BJP leader stated that Modi is a favourite among all, "Everybody is blaming Modi because Modi is a darling of the masses," Naidu added.
