Jagan Mohan Reddy calls the TD-BJP bluff

YSR Congress president highlighted the welfare schemes implemented by YSR

Vijayawada: YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy came down heavily on the TD-BJP alliance for playing an opportunistic politics in Andhra Pradesh.

He asked what the alliance was doing between 1999 to 2004 when it was in power in the state and accused the alliance leaders of running with the hare in Telangana and hunting with the hound in Seemandhra.

“A few hours after elections ended in Telangana, the alliance leaders went to Tirupati blowing their own trumpet of development. They then started singing the Seemandhra tune even as they voted in favour of dividing the state. This is raw opportunism. Modi was speaking about development and smaller states. The NDA carved out Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Uttaranchal with Raipur, Ranchi and Dehradun as capitals. Till today these cities do not have an international airport. The NDA government promised '10,000 crore to develop Raipur, but gave only '400 crore. The three cities do not have any super-specialty hospitals,” the

YSRC president said while campaigning in Bantumilli mandal of Krishna district on Thursday. He also addressed a public meeting in Lakshmipuram tank centre. He compared Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s rule to a golden era of the state and assured the people that the YSRC will repeat similar rule if voted to power in the elections slated to be held on May 7.

Targeting the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate, the YSRC president said, “Modi speaks about a 1,000 km coastline in Seemandhra now. It had the same extent even in 1999-2004, but there was no focus on it. He tells about gas and petroleum that can be extracted from our coast, but never says how much of it will be given to our state.”

He said he would change the direction and fate of the residuary Andhra Pradesh after the elections and hoped the people would give him power to rule the state.

He highlighted the welfare schemes implemented by YSR and criticised the policies of the TD.

Targeting the TD chief, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “When the CBI came after me after I left the Congress, it has shielded Mr Naidu on some pretext or the other. The law that was applied to Jagan was not applied to Naidu.”

He asked voters to support Machilipatnam YSRC LS candidate K. Parthasarathi and Pedana YSR Congress candidate Buragadda Vedavyas. He then went to Tiruvuru Assembly segment for campaign.
