Sonia Gandhi hits out at TRS, TD-BJP

'KCR focussed only on becoming chief minister of Telangana': Sonia Gandhi

Hyderabad: Congress president Sonia Gandhi alleged that the Telangana Rashtra Samiti president is only focussing on becoming the Chief Minister of Telangana.

“His only ambition is to become chief minister and nothing else,” she said.
Touching on the critical issue of government employees’ division among the two new states, she said if a Congress government is given the mandate, it would be done after taking opinion of both the sides.

She also criticised the BJP for claiming credit for formation of Telangana.
“Some other parties are claiming they gave Telangana. The BJP tried to stall the Bill in the Rajya Sabha and the Telugu Desam and the YSR Congress helped them in their bid. But only the Congress strived hard for Telangana and we took a firm stand and steered the process through,” she said.

She also took apart the Telugu Desam party for forging an alliance with the BJP, saying the alliance was formed for their electoral benefit and was bereft of any ideology. The Congress president also promised to take up a slew of projects and said several new schemes would be taken up if her party is voted to power.

She promised here as she has done elsewhere in the region, to set up a 4,000 MW power plant in the new state, ensure employment for youth and confer national project status on the Pranahita-Chevella and Palamur lift irrigation project.
