Stones pelted at Galla Aruna Kumari convoy

Police lathicharged after clash between YSRC and TD workers

Chandragiri: Tension gripped the Chandragiri constituency and Tirupati after YSRC followers attacked the campaign convoy of former minister and Telugu Desam’s Chandragiri Assembly segment nominee, Galla Aruna Kumari at Samireddypalle, in Chittoor district on Saturday.

According to TD sources, the followers of YSRC Chandragiri nominee, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, obstructed Ms Aruna’s convoy and pelted stones at the vehicles damaging the window panes.

Meanwhile, Ms Aruna’s followers too retaliated by pelting stones at the YSRC activists. Pakala police rushed to the spot and resorted to lathicharge to disperse both the groups.

Ms Aruna and her followers staged a sit-in protest at Kothapalli on the Puthalapattu-Naidupet highway and raised slogans against the YSRC. Similar protests were held by the TD across the Chandragiri constituency and in Tirupati as the TD cadres took to streets to protest the attack.
