More jobs, says former Infosys man and AAP candidate V Balakrishnan

Balakrishnan said AAP will thrive private sector to generate more jobs
Hyderabad: Former Infosys Board Member and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate for the Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha seat, V. Balakrishnan, who was in the city on Saturday, said that in the past five years only 22 lakh jobs were created as against a demand for around 1.2 crore.
He said, “So, unless the private sector is encouraged, more jobs cannot be generated.” He added that for this to happen, the government, instead of focussing on making money, should turn into a facilitator.
“By becoming a facilitator, the government will enable the private sector to thrive so that it can generate more opportunities,” he said. The AAP MP also talked about doubling the number of courts and judges so that justice can be delivered quicker.
“Legal battles in courts are usually long-drawn out and take almost 10 to 15 years to reach conclusion,” he said.
“The endemic corruption,” he added, “is due to a lack of fear of law”.
He opined that India needs a stable regulatory environment, enabling honest entrepreneurs to invest in business and help provide opportunities.
Expressing the party’s ideology, he stated, “Every citizen should have affordable healthcare facility. On the education front, we have to double our investment. Presently, only three per cent of the GDP is spent on education and this needs to be doubled. The quality of primary education and its capacity should be enhanced. Though there is a huge demand, the supply is always less in the education sector. Reskilling programs should be made a must which will help fresh graduates to be ready for the industry.”
Mr Balakrishnan, who quit Infosys on December 31 and joined the Aam Aadmi Party, is pitted against incumbent P.C. Mohan of the BJP and youth Congress wing chief Rizwan Arshad.
