In late offensive, Gandhi's attack on Narendra Modi

"He Bhagwan! Desh ko bachaao is tarah ke model se."

Lucknow/Barnala: In a clear indication that the Gandhis had decided to up the ante and launch a full-blooded attack on the BJP and its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, UPA chairperson, Sonia Gandhi said while addressing an election rally in Malwa belt of Punjab: "He Bhagwan! Desh ko bachaao is tarah ke model se (May God please save this country from this model)."

Priyanka Gnadhi Vadra wasn't to be left behind, attacking the BJP's Smriti Irani who is seeking to upset her brother in the Gandhi family pocketborough Amethi, by saying "All those contesting against Rahul are here just to contest against him. They will leave once the elections are over but our hearts are always here with you," she said and pointedly asked Ms Irani if she ever went back to Chandni Chowk after losing the election from there in 2009. "We have never left the people of Amethi," she said.

Stepping up his offensive against Modi, Rahul Gandhi on Saturday alleged that there is a "partnership" between the BJP PM candidate and Adani and accused the industrialist of "funding" the Modi marketing blitz to return "favours.

“Modi has given a contract of Rs 26,000 crore to Adani for buying electricity from their company, which you use. He has given another Rs 10,000 crore by way of cheap land, your land to him. The company whose value was Rs 3,000 crore is now Rs 40,000 crore," Rahul alleged.

“Big posters are coming up all over the country. From where is the money coming ..You tell me ?" he asked. “This is the Gujarat Model. You give all the benefits to one industrialist,” Rahul said, mocking the model.

Rahul Gandhi hits out at Modi’s Gujarat model

Ahmedabad: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi slammed Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's model of development in Gujarat saying that millions of youth are unemployed in the western state. Addressing rallies in Modi's turf, the Gandhi scion hit out at Modi over his alleged links with Adani group.

In an apparent reference to Adani group, Rahul said that Congress has spent Rs 30,000 crore in MNREGA, but Modiji has given Rs 40,000 crore to one single person. The Congress vice president also took potshots at the massive amount of money being spent by the BJP on advertisements. “At a time when 6000 farmers have committed suicide in the state, the Gujarat CM goes around the country and says that Gujarat farmers are getting prosperous day-by-day,” Rahul said.

Taking on Modi, he maintained that the new partnership is between Modi and Adani, others are being sidelined. In an attempt to corner the BJP strongman over his RSS links, Rahul said that Sardar Patel, whom Modi always speaks about was against the sangh. Modi ji always says, “I have done this, I have done that” but Congress believes in “We” not “I”, Rahul exhorted.
