Telugu Desam leader Bilya Naik’s daughter missing

Naik’s daughter was staying with her aunt since her parents had been busy campaigning

Hyderabad: Nalgonda district president of Telugu Desam, Bilya Naik’s 14-year-old daughter went missing on Thursday from her relative’s house in Meerpet.

Mr Naik, who is contesting from Devarkonda Assembly constituency, has approached the Meerpet police, which has started an investigation after booking a missing person’s case. Cops are also investigating if the girl had gone out with somebody with her consent.

The TD leader’s daughter, Harika Naik, who is studying in Class VIII in a private school in the city, was staying with her aunt in Dwarkanagar in Meerpet since her parents had been busy campaigning. However, her parents were planning to take her to Devarkonda on Thursday since her school closed for holidays.

“Her examinations finished by Wednesday and her mother had asked her to pack her bags to move to Devarkonda the next day. However, on Thursday morning, when her aunt awoke, she was gone from the house.

Her belongings were also missing,” said Meerpet inspector P. Sreedhar Reddy.

Police officials are meanwhile suspecting acquaintances of the girl. “We have started a manhunt to trace the girl,” said the inspector.
