Los Angeles: 'X-Men' director Bryan Singer has broken his silence over sex abuse allegations by calling them 'vicious and completely false'. The director released a statement to deny the allegations but said he would abstain from media events ahead of X-Men: Days of Future Past's release, said the Hollywood Reporter.
"The allegations against me are outrageous, vicious and completely false. I do not want these fictitious claims to divert ANY attention from X-Men: Days of Future Past. This fantastic film is a labor of love and one of the greatest experiences of my career.
"So, out of respect to all of the extraordinary contributions from the incredibly talented actors and crew involved, I've decided not to participate in the upcoming events for the film," Singer said in a statement. Michael F Egan III has brought a civil suit against the director alleging that Singer sexually assaulted him in California and Hawaii when he was 15.
Herman has also filed three additional sex abuse lawsuits against prolific TV exec Garth Ancier, former Disney TV president David Neuman and Broadway producer Gary Goddard. Singer, 48, is confident that he will emerge unscathed from the present situation.
"... I promise when this situation is over, the facts will show this to be the sick twisted shakedown it is. I want to thank fans, friends and family for all their amazing and overwhelming support," singer said.
