Samsung launches Galaxy Beam2 on 'mute'

Sadly, the Galaxy Beam2, which was a silent release, is only available in China

China’s Samsung portal listed the Beam2, a successor of the Samsung Galaxy Beam a few days ago. The device was silently unveiled and is only available, presently, on in China. The phone is collaborated with the local carrier, China Mobile.

The Samsung Galaxy Beam2 (G3858) is an upgrade to the older Beam handset with quite a difference. The exterior is made of a complete brushed metallic design for a richer feel. Beneath the hood lies a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz. There is no mention about the complete hardware specs, which defines the graphics, storage, display type and a few other important features.

The Beam2 is a single-SIM Android smartphone with a 4.6-inch display sporting a resolution of 480x800 pixels. The display is 0.6-inches larger than the older Beam, but the resolution stays the same. Storage expansion slot supports microSD cards up to 64GB. The Beam2 is slightly heavier at 165g, but is a tad thinner at 11.64mm compared to the older sibling at 145g and 12.5mm. The camera too stays same like the older one, at 5MP. The operating system used here is Android Jelly Bean v4.2.

The built-in projector uses the DLP technology, but there are absolutely no details about the lumens, projection size and battery runtime. A 2600 mAh battery fuels the entire handset.

There is no information about it being released or available to the rest of the world as yet. Hopefully Samsung would unveil it to the world, but it does not look like they will since the older sibling failed drastically.
