Tips to remember before heading to polls

The following list will help you exercise your franchise without hassles
Voter Identity cards should be carried by the voter as the primary identity document to cast their vote when heading to the booth. Photocopies are not allowed by the Election Commission.
Polling time starts at 7 am and ends at 6.00 pm. The polling officer have been advised to issue the last polling slip at 6.00 pmand not even a minute later.
If a voter does not have Voter Identity card, then he can carry one of the 12 other identity cards to cast their ballot including passport, bank passbook, pension card, driving license etc.
Voters have to present their Identity cards to the polling officer who would verify if the voter’s name is in the electoral list. If it is present in the voter list, the individual can proceed to the EVM and cast their ballot.
To check if your name is in the voter list, please go tohttp://www.elections.tn.gov.in/searchid.htm and key in your EPIC number (voter identity number). If present in the rolls, you will also get details of the booth where you can vote.
Remember to leave your mobile phone behind as they are not allowed inside the polling booth.
Alcohol consumption is banned and voters are not allowed to enter the polling booth or within 100 meters of the polling booth in an inebriated condition.
Vehicles should be parked atleast 200 meters away from polling booths.
