Modi crossing all limits to mislead people: Sonia Gandhi

Rahul says BJP PM candidate take credit of Gujarat people’s work

Raipur/ Islampur: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday ridiculed BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for “developing a habit” of beating his own drum. “He (Mr Modi) only says main, main (me). The people of Gujarat toiled hard to achieve what they are now. But, Mr Modi claims the credit for the development of the state. He always says main, main belittling hard works of people of Gujarat,” Mr Gandhi said while addressing his last poll meeting in Chhattisgarh for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, at Bemetera nearly 60 km from here.

Mr Gandhi said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has never used the word “I” in his speeches and always gave credit for all the achievements of his government to everyone.

Taking a dig at the BJP government in Chhattisgarh, he said the state is rich with mineral and forest resources, but its people are poor. Only select few have been cornering benefits of development in the state.

Meanwhile, addressing a rally in Islampur, West Bengal, Congress president Sonia Gandhi said that Mr Modi has “crossed all limits in misleading people in his bid to get to the Prime Minister’s chair.”

“Some parties are there whose main agenda is to spread lies against the Congress. Especially, the BJP’s leader is crossing all limits to mislead people to get PM’s chair,” Mrs Gandhi said.

Hitting out at the Mamata Banerjee government in the state over the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam, Mrs Gandhi said that the government is colluding with chit fund companies which have looted more than 18 lakh people.
