Hyderabad: Poll dust has engulfed the entire Telangana region as leaders and cadres are busy campaigning.
With election campaigning set to a close 48 hours before polling on April 30, leaders of major political parties have raised the pitch of campaigning and are indulging in war of words.
Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu, Telangana Congress Committee president Ponnala Laxmaiah, TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Telangana BJP president, G. Kishan Reddy, YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Sharmila, Y.S. Vijayalakshmi and others have hit the road in both Telangana and Seemandhra.
With rising mercury, political heat has also soared after election campaigns by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu, Rahul Gandhi, the TRS chief and others and likely to rise further with Narendra Modi’s whirlwind tour along with the top BJP leaders.
“Narendra Modi’s visit will heat up political environment and give a shot in the arm to the BJP campaign. The BJP is all set to form the next government and Mr Modi will be the Prime Minister of the country,” said Mr Kishan Reddy.
A war of words between political leaders has become the order of the day.
In fact, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao and Mr Lakshmaiah’s verbal duel has been making headlines almost every day. “Mr KCR is attacking me in frustration. He will not win the magic figure so he is targeting me and the Congress.
The Congress has given Telangana and it alone can take credit for it,” said Mr Laxmaiah.
Mr Kishan Reddy is furious with the comments made by Mr Rahul Gandhi that the BJP and the Telugu Desam created hurdles at every step but the Congress ensured passage of the Telangana Bill as promised. “It is impossible for the Telangana Bill to be passed in Parliament without the support of the BJP. Mr Rahul Gandhi has no knowledge about Telangana,” he fumed.
TRS leader T. Harish Rao took on Mr Lakshmaiah stating that Union minister Jairam Ramesh was parroting Mr Lakshma-iah’s script, while taking potshots at TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu.
The 2014 elections has certainly seen the most vociferous and abusive election campaign in Telangana and Seemandhra since it is a political life and death question for four key parties — the Congress, the Telugu Desam, the TRS and the YSRC.
