Senior YSRC leaders face charges in the Jagan quid pro quo investments case

Hyderabad: Affidavits filed with the Elections Commission reveal that many of the contestants in these general elections are facing criminal cases. While election code violation cases are common among leaders, the T-leaders have quite a few cases against them pertaining to the Telangana agitation.TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao, his daughter Kavita and former minister and TRS nominee Kadiyam Srihari are facing cases for agitation. Whereas Y.S. Avinash Reddy, cousin of YSRC chief Jaganmohan Reddy, is facing cases for violence for United Andhra agitation.
Cases of cheating are also registered against several nominees. Industrialists like Rayapati Sambasiva Rao and S.P.Y. Reddy are also facing cases. Secretary of Forum For Good Governance, Padmanabha Reddy said, “It is very disturbing to see that several of them who are facing criminal cases are in the fray. There are few with clean records. There are serious cases that attracts from 10 years’ imprisonment to life.”
Film actor Nandamuri Balakrishna is facing a case for obstructing public way and disobedience of orders promulgated by a public servant in 2011. Ms Kavitha, meanwhile, is facing eight cases in Secunderabad, Cyberabad and Mahabubnagar. Former minister K. Pardasaradhy is facing six cases, including two cases of FERA violations. Bhumana Karunakar Reddy of Tirupati is facing cases under the Railway Act.
Former minister Danam Nagendar is facing four cases including under the SC/ST Atrocities Act. MIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi is facing cases in Nanded in Maharashtra. Ramesh Rathod of TD, Ponnam Prabhakar of Congress and TRS youth leader Balka Suman are also facing cases. Union minister Sarve Satyanarayana also has two cases against him.
Actor and Congress MLA candidate from Medak, Vijayashanti, is facing a case under Section 153A for stating: “Telangana Addosthe Adamga narikestham (we will cut anyone who obstruct Telangana into pieces).” YSRC Vijayawada LS candidate, Koneru Prasad is facing a case of cheating in the Emaar scam. TD Boath candidate Mr Soyam Bapu Rao is named in the passport scam.
