Objective of the designing is make people happy

It’s always a good idea to have someone or something around you that makes you laugh. When you feel too bogged down with routine stuff, a little bit of fun and quirkiness can help liven up the monotony.

That’s the thought behind the funky designs for everyday products that Samir Virani creates. His design studio (It’s Our Studio), which was launched in April 2011, offers a mix of unconventional, kitschy products like toilet rolls imprinted with Suduko games, Lego notebooks and bright printed kettles.

Of his unique design sensibilities Samir says, “Designing a product is a challenge but also a lot of fun. For me, designing is lot more enjoyable when it involves colours and innovation. When I design a product, what I focus on, is the utility and also the colours of the piece, because that is what draws maximum attention. Even the simplest of products can be made quirky if designed the right way.”

Samir likes to add a humorous touch to his products by using slogans and funky prints. “We work on a series of catchy slogans, fun one-liners and illustrations that highlight current affairs and other news items,” he explains, although “some designs are loved by our customers and some are not.”
