Pawan Kalyan backs off as Telugu Desam chief calls his bluff

Jana Sena had earlier announced that they will fight elections against TDP

Hyderabad: Actor Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena stepped back and decided not to contest the elections, after saying on Wednesday that it would field candidates in seven Lok Sabha seats.

TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu’s hardline stance appeared to have worked, and the BJP persuaded the actor to pull back. The Jana Sena had sought to enter the fray but the TD denied industrialist Potluri Vara Prasad, a friend of Pawan Kalyan, a ticket to contest.

Jana Sena sources said that the party had given up its plans after BJP leaders assured that they would positively consider giving a Rajya Sabha seat to Mr Vara Prasad.
Also, Pawan Kalyan agreed to campaign for the BJP and would participate in the election meetings of BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi.
