Bengaluru: A security guard at an under construction building was arrested for allegedly trying to rape a seven-year-old girl near Kundalahalli in HAL police station limits on Friday.
According to police, the accused, identified Raju (28), a native of Assam, noticed two minor girls, aged about seven and eight, from the neighbouring house playing in front of the building on Thursday evening.
On realising that there was no one else around, Raju tried to lure the seven-year-old girl by offering her chocolates and sent the other girl home. The elder girl noticed Raju taking her friend to the nearby shed where he used to reside, the police said.
The incident came to light on Friday morning when the elder girl informed her parents, who in turn informed the parents of the victim. On being questioned the girl revealed that the guard took her into his room and tried to remove her clothes. But she started shouting and the guard panicked and fled.
“The parents lodged a complaint on Friday morning and the guard has been arrested. A case of attempt to rape has been registered and further investigations are on,” said a senior police official.
