Rich women may not be ‘marriage material’: Study

Here is why wealthy women are repulsive marriage candidates...

Mumbai: The phenomenon women earning much higher than men has made rich women seem less and less desirable and believe it or not, recent studies shown in Vox say that boosting men's pay may be a good step for both, men and women alike.

We explore some major points that have made wealthy women not so marriage material.

Lawyer Phyllis Schlafly says that the 77-cent gender wage gap "is not based on equal work," and she's probably right. Numerous studies have attempted to control factors that feed into this gap — hours worked, taking breaks for childbearing — and have come up with a much smaller gap.

Schlafly added that "while women prefer to HAVE a higher-earning partner, men generally prefer to BE the higher-earning partner in a relationship."

You might not agree to this, but we have science to back it up. A 2013 study found that marriage rates decline in a marriage market where women are likely to earn more than men. In addition, the study found couples in which women make more than the men are more likely to divorce than those for whom the reverse is true.

Groups like Millennials, that have smaller gender wage gaps, have lower marriage rate.

A 2007 study found that participants evaluated mothers as less competent and committed than their childless peers.

Researchers say that motherhood decreases a woman's income significantly. Thus, mothers who chose to have a demanding job may not be able to strike an ideal balance between both.

And finally, just like the sky is blue and the grass is green, moneyed women are repulsive potential spouses. Men generally prefer to earn more than their wives.
