Vellore: Accepting DMK supremo M. Karunanidhi’s challenge of a debate on her government’s initiatives on the Cauvery issue, chief minister J. Jayalalithaa on Tuesday dared him to attend the state Assembly and discuss the issue on the floor of the House.
“I am ready to discuss the steps taken by my government to tackle the Cauvery issue. But is Karunanidhi ready to attend the assembly and have a face to face debate with me?” she asked, campaigning in Vellore for AIADMK candidate, B. Senguttuvan.
Recalling that Mr Karunanidhi had in Thiruvarur challenged her to a debate on the matter, she added, “ A time will be allotted in the state assembly to discuss the Caurvery issue after the elections. Is he ready to accept the challenge?”
Accusing the DMK leader of betraying the state’s interests by allowing Karnataka to build a dam across the Cauvery, she said only he and no one else from his party could participate in the debate.
