Drained Ishant Sharma almost quit

The Indian pacer speaks about his ups and downs in the one day format
Hyderabad: One has had a mixed season, one is hoping to make a national comeback and another is just looking to do well for his franchise. This is the story of three cricketers with very different aims and aspirations for the seventh season of the IPL.
Ishant Sharma has been to both the ends of the spectrum. He has had games where he won the match for India, and then he lost his way a bit in other games, becoming the reason India lost. But now, Ishant is hoping to put all that behind him when he turns up in the Sunrisers Hyderabad’s brand new kit.
“It is very disappointing when you don’t do well, and the disappointment increases manifold when you are the reason your team lost,” Ishant said, no doubt referring to the ODI against Australia where he conceded 30 runs in an over, effectively conceding the match to the Aussies.
“I wanted to quit playing one dayers,” Ishant revealed. “But whenever I feel low, I turn to the one person I always turn to my mother. And she said to me, ‘Cricket has always been your dream and you pursued it no matter what anyone else said. So one bad day should not make you give up’. So I put all that behind me, and made a comeback.”
Y. Venugopala Rao, meanwhile, is back in a Hyderabad IPL side after three seasons. He played for the Deccan Chargers before moving to the Delhi Daredevils. Venu’s erstwhile Delhi teammate Irfan Pathan, on the other hand, is brimming with confidence. With the ICC 50-over World Cup a year away, the allrounder says he will leave no stone unturned to make a national comeback.
