Mumbai: On Thurdsay, Apple said that its mobile, desktop and web services were not affected by the Heartbleed bug.
“Apple takes security very seriously. IOS and OS X never incorporated the vulnerable software and key Web-based services were not affected,” an Apple spokesperson told Re/code. The statement came in a few days after the news about the Hearbleed bug rocked various companies with security flaws in the OpenSSL cryptographic library.
Security expert Bruce Schneier called Heartbleed a catastrophic flaw which he rated as ‘11’ on a scale of 1-10. Facebook, Google and Yahoo have admitted that their services could be susceptible to the bug.
Security experts, worldwide, have warned netizens to change their online passwords as soon as possible.
