Elections 2014: Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi may skip Andhra Pradesh visit

Hyderabad: According to sources, AICC president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul will concentrate on Telangana and skip AP altogether as the Seemandhra electorate is angry with the Congress for the state’s bifurcation.

Other AICC leaders like Jairam Ramesh, Digvijay Singh and others, will be sent to Andhra Pradesh for campaigning.

A few Andhra leaders are pressuring AICC president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul to tour Andhra Pradesh.

They say that it might send out a wrong signal if they don’t campaign in Seemandhra and it might affect the party’s prospe-cts in Telangana too.

Meanwhile, Telangana PCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah told the media on Thursday that Mrs Gandhi will visit the state on April 16 to address a public meeting in Karimnagar. He added that Mr Gandhi’s programme was not yet finalised.
