Nitish Kumar slams Rahul Gandhi over comments on lack of development

Rahul points out that Bihar lacks industries despite talks of development

Gaya: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday slammed Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for his comments on the state's development and blamed the Centre for slow industrial growth in the state.

"Ulta chor kotwal ko dante" (guilty scolding the innocent), he said addressing an election rally at Sherghati in the district.

Its the Centre which by denying special category status to Bihar has led to slow industrial growth in the state, he said. "The Central government which denied us the special category status is now questioning our development," he said.

Rahul Gandhi while addressing his first election rally at Aurangabad in the state on April 1, had launched a scathing attack on Kumar questioning his developmental claims.

The Congress vice-president had asked the public that while Kumar talked a lot about development but had any industry come to the state.

The Bihar Chief Minister has gone offencive against the Congress over denial of special category status as well as special package on the lines of one given to Seemandhra.

His attack on Congress has sharpened after it decided to forge alliance with his rival RJD for 40 seats in Bihar.

Kumar, who is star campaigner of JD(U) in the polls, has been raising the demand of special category status to the state prominently in all the election meetings and appealing to public to provide them strength through votes so that the future Central government does not refuse the demand.
