Lost baby elephant found in a living room!

It had been walking for 18 hours before reaching a private game reserve

South Africa: Tom, a ten-day-old baby elephant, made its way into a living room after running away from its mother and travelling for 30 miles.

Francoise Maldy Anthony, the owner of Thula Thula Private Game Reserve in Zululand, was surprised to find Tom stumbling in her garden on a regular Tuesday evening.

"I have owned this ranch for 15 years but I have never experienced anything like this," Anthony was quoted by the Express as saying.

The baby elephant had separated from her herd in Zululand, South Africa, and travelled for 18 hours before she reached the game reserve.

"She had walked kilometres to get here and was quite distressed when she arrived - she looked tired, thirsty and hungry," said Anthony.

Anthony and her colleagues "helped her into the living room and just left her free to roam" for a few hours.

The game keepers then located Tom's herd and baby was reunited with her family early Wednesday morning.

But even as they safely delivered Tom to her mother, Anthony said the ten-day-old "tried to run after the van as we pulled away."
