Chiranjeevi asks fans to join Congress

Chiranjeevi would embark upon a special drive from to persuade fans to join Congress

Hyderabad: Union minister cum mega star K. Chiranjeevi Tuesday held a meeting with leaders of his fan club associations having the sobriquet “Chiru Sena”, urging them to join the Congress.

APCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy, who also attended the meeting, announced that they would embark upon a special drive from April 15 to persuade Mr Chiranjeevi fans to join the Congress. Both Mr Chiranjeevi and Raghuveera assured the fans that they would be given the Congress tickets wherever possible.

Mr Chiranjeevi even dissuaded his fans from going to his brother Pawan Kalyan promising that he would take care of them.

He said, “I am here for you, I will do everything that you want. No need to go anywhere (to Pawan). Whenever I come for district tours, I would meet all of you separately and allot some time for you.”

Mr Chiranjeevi asked his fans to enlist their names for Assembly seats in case they were interested and promised their names would be considered wherever possible.

The meeting was attended by Mr Chiranjeevi fans’ association leaders from 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh state. Mr Chiranjeevi requested them to work for the Congress in the same way they did for Praja Rajyam in 2009 Assembly elections.
