No face to reckon with at the state level, feel youth

Youngsters feels for change in the new state of Telengana

Hyderabad: First-time voters in the city strongly feel that governance is a major requisite for these elections. The discussions become stormy in the severe heat over cool glasses of sweet lime juice outside the High Court, Gate No. 5, as these young voters put forth their views about the upcoming general and state elections.

Impressed by the development model of Gujarat, Trupthi Agarwal said, she wants same kind of change in the new state of Telangana.

Agarwal argues, “We need a government which will actually act on the basic issues of power, clean roads and ensure that the city is livable.”

Her colleague Soumya Penna says, “When you travel from Hitec City to the High Court or other parts of the city, there is a marked difference. Why should there be such discrimination? We need overall development.”

Law student Neha Agarwal says, “I will vote for the first time. And, I am absolutely glad that the Supreme Court rule of ‘None Of The Above’ has been included. As a young voter, I feel we must check all aspects of the leaders and take an informed decision.”

For them, the choice at the national level is clear, unlike the local level.

Prateek Kedia, law student explained, “In Telangana, there is no proper face, no proper agenda or focus. proper focus at the state level.” While their discussions concentrate towards growth, their priority is inclusive growth without propagating division.
