Action on Galla was delayed

The CBI did not name them among the accused in the Emaar-APIIC scam

Hyderabad: The CBI had filed the chargesheet in the Emaar case in 2012 and recommended to the state government that action be taken against the Galla family.

The CBI had alleged that Ms Aruna Kumari’s son, Mr Jayadev and his wife G. Ramadevi had encroached on the land and got it mutated in their favour.

The CBI did not name them among the accused in the Emaar-APIIC scam, but wrote to the state government on the matter, and also mentioned it in the supplementary chargesheet.

It also recommended action against GHMC officials for granting building permission and approving plans for a multi-storeyed building despite being aware that it was government land that had been encroached upon.

The state government has been sitting on the CBI’s recommendation. The matter goes back to 2004, when Ms Aruna Kumari wrote to the then chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy that she has come to know that her land in Nanakramguda was to be acquired for the Emaar project, and requested that it be delisted.
