Chandrababu Naidu focuses on agriculture

TDP promises to waive all loans to boost productivity among farmers

Hyderabad: Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu, who lost power since 2004 for ignoring the agriculture sector at a time of drought, made sure he gave top billing to agriculture and allied industries.

“My first priority is agriculture and making agriculture profitable. We will develop allied agriculture services in a big way. We will waive all loans to instil confidence among the beleaguered farmers,” he said.

Though he did not say it in so many words, he indicated that he would head the Seemandhra government if his party wins the elections.

“We will development new industrial corridors, agri-specific industries, road, rail and air connectivity, upgrade Vizag, Tirupati and Vijayawada airports as international airports to name a few, and industrialisation at every port,” he said.

He also planned to make West Godavarian agriculture hub and set up food processing industries in both regions, ensure early completion of pending irrigation project, putting Polavaram on the fast track and making Pranahita Chevella a national project, safe drinking water in all villages and towns, sanitation etc.

For Telangana, Mr Naidu’s biggest offer would be social justice by making a leader from the Backward Classes the Chief Minister. But he did not say who the candidate would be if the party won the eelctions in the region.

Taking potshots at the TRS, he said “The TRS is not a party and has no experience of administration or development. It could be described as a by-election party at the most.”

Claiming credit for modernising Hyderabad, making it an international IT hub, construction of the 160-km Outer Ring Road, apart from the MMTS, Metro Rail, sports complex and international airport, he said he would ensure good governance and ensure security for women.
