LS polls: BJP candidate seeks written support for Narendra Modi

Sankalp patra is part of pamphlet that has receipt attached on which a voter has to fill his personal details & signature

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janta Party south Delhi candidate Ramesh Bidhuri is busy getting written assurances from his electorate that they would be voting for the saffron brigade’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha elections.

Mr Bidhuri is sending his party workers to each household in his constituency with a form called sankalp patra to be filled by the voters. “Our people are getting the sankalp patra filled by the voters which is like a confirmation that they will be voting for Mr Modi as their prime ministerial candidate by making us win from south Delhi,” he said.

The sankalp patra is part of their party pamphlet that has a receipt attached to it on which the voter has to fill in his personal details with his signature. The sankalp patra is like a bond against Congress.

Many BJP party workers have been maintaining the data of these forms to identify their voters. “We will be using this data to thank all the people who will be voting for us to make us win this election,” a party worker, campaigning for Mr Bhiduri said. “We are getting a good response from the locals who are willingly filling these sankalp patras.”

Mr Bidhuri is among the first one to come up with a manifesto for his constituency. In his local manifesto released on Sunday, Mr Bhiduri said the constituency was devoid of any development works. “We need to address the problems such as water shortage and medical amenities in the area.”
