Elections 2014: Former Punjab CM, Amarinder Singh to take on Jaitley

The Congress on Friday announced 26 candidates

New Delhi: Former Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh will take on BJP stalwart Arun Jaitley in Amritsar Lok Sabha seat. The Congress has also fielded Ambika Soni from Anandpur Sahib seat.

The Congress on Friday announced 26 candidates. Of these, 21 are from West Bengal. However, suspense remains over Ludhiana seat, held by Union minister Manish Tewari, who was taken ill and had to be admitted to a city hospital last week.

The Congress has fielded Mr Narendra Kumar Rawat against BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi from Vadodara seat in Gujarat. On the other hand, the name of senior leader and scholar Dr Karan Singh is doing the rounds for Varanasi seat, from where Mr Modi is also contesting.
