Did you know that director Ram Gopal Varma was in love with Jayasudha? Not now! When he was a college-going boy he was in love with the actress. “When I went to Kurnool to my grandfather’s home, I happened to see the posters of Sivaranjani and fell in love with Jayasudha. Mohan Babu played villain in the film and he created a lot of trouble for her. So I hated Mohan Babu,” said Varma in a lighter vein, at the audio release function of his film Rowdy in Tirupati.
He added that he respects Mohan Babu more as a person than as an artiste. “I never had friends in the film industry. Mohan Babu is my first friend,” says Varma.
He asked Mohan Babu to act without a wig and make-up in this film and the actor readily agreed. “He trusts me and readily agreed to act naturally,” says Varma.
Varma’s mother, sister and his uncle attended the audio function. All the Manchu family members were also present.
