YSRC activists go on the rampage over ticket denial

YSRC party activists attacked the party’s office protesting the change mayoral nominee for Rajahmundry municipal elections

Rajahmundry:While YSRC party chief toured Rajahmundry on Tuesday, party activists attacked the party’s Assembly segment office and pelted stones.
They broke furniture protesting the change of YSR Congress mayoral nominee for Rajahmundry municipal elections.

A five-member panel of the party had recently announced the name of T. Uma Maheswari as the mayoral candidate for the party.

However, on Tuesday morning, the name of Ms Sharmila Reddy, the daughter-in-law of late financier Seetarama Reddy, surfaced as the mayoral candidate.

The supporters of Uma Maheswari’s husband, YSR Congress state trade union president T.K. Visweswara Reddy, attacked the office of party’s Rajahmundry city Assembly segment in-charge Mr Bommana Raj Kumar, causing panic among residents in the multi-storied building.

When contacted, Mr Visweswara Reddy said, "We have received no communication about any change in the mayoral nominee from the party. My wife filed her nomination to contest as a corporator. I don't know who attacked the party office."
