Ground reality in Gujarat different from what Modi portrays: Kejriwal
Mathura: AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday launched a no-holds-barred attack on BJP leader Narendra Modi saying that the Gujarat Chief Minister had promised to construct 50,000 houses for the poor in the state but not even 50 have been constructed in 11 years.
"BJP is highlighting the developmental model of Gujarat, however, the ground reality is otherwise," he said while addressing a public meeting in Naujheel town, about 70 kms from here.
The AAP leader also attacked other BJP ruled states claiming that corruption is rampant there and promises made by them during polls are yet to be fulfilled. "Neither any action, so far, has been taken against Robert Vadra by Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje, in spite of her promise, nor any action has been taken against mining mafia who killed IPS officer Narendra Singh in Madhya Pradesh," the AAP leader said.
Singh, a young IPS officer, was crushed to death under the wheels of a tractor-trolley, allegedly by a member of the mining mafia, after he tried to stop the vehicle carrying stones in Morena district of MP in May 2012.
Taking on Modi, Kejriwal said, "the BJP's prime ministerial candidate had promised to construct 50,000 houses for the poor in the state but not even 50 have been constructed in 11 years."
Kejriwal also criticised BSP and SP and said that a change of government hardly makes any difference in Uttar Pradesh as both have become "synonymous with corruption".
He slammed Congress for price rise and corruption and attributed these to Congress' policy of "promoting" the interests of big business houses.
"No effort is being made to protect the lands of farmers. Instead, these lands are being acquired for JP, Wadera, Ambani and other big business houses. "This anti-farmer policy of different governments is leaving them landless," Kejriwal said.
The former Delhi chief minister narrated his conversation with BJP activists, who showed black flags to him during his visit to the state early this week.
Kejriwal said that he asked the BJP activists, "Is the condition of roads in rural areas better? Are the kith and kin of farmers, whose land was acquired getting employment? Are the schemes for poor really reaching to them?"
The AAP leader claimed that after listening to the queries "they (activists) realised that they were misguided and became our followers." Highlighting the achievements of his 49-day government in Delhi, Kejwriwal said,"We fulfilled some promises, however, when I found that BJP and Congress are jointly opposing our policies, I was left with no option but to resign, as in that condition it was not possible to fulfil the promises made to people."
Kejriwal also visited Lalpur village, the parental house of slain IPS officer Narendra Singh, which celebrated his death anniversary recently, and consoled the bereaved family members.
