Auckland: They might be excelling on field against India but off it, there is trouble brewing in New Zealand Cricket with Jesse Ryder and Doug Bracewell facing investigation for getting involved in a scuffle at a bar here.

According to a report in 'The Dominion Post', Ryder, who has a history of alcohol-related problems, injured his hand in the brawl that took place before the opening Test which the Kiwis won by 40 runs yesterday.

Neither of the two players was part of the playing XI but were there in the squad as cover for possible injuries.

"New Zealand Cricket remains tight-lipped on the Jesse Ryder-Doug Bracewell drama as it investigates whether Bracewell suffered a hand injury in an alleged scuffle during the pair's night out last week," the newspaper reported.

The daily claimed that New Zealand Cricket CEO David White will make a statement on whether to charge the duo under the code of conduct as both have admitted to being at the bar.

"Black Caps security manager Sam Dickason is still piecing together the events of the night, which is complicated by Ryder currently playing for Otago and Bracewell being back home in Napier with a confirmed broken bone in his foot," the newspaper reported.

"Bracewell suffered other injuries on the night, and there are questions as to whether he was involved in a fight. As of last night, no complaint had been laid by any member of the public. As it stands, the pair's actions are not considered worthy of tearing up their respective contracts."
