Resolution against AP division Bill puts Assembly and Council into pandemonium.
Hyderabad: The notice given by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to Speaker N. Manohar for a resolution to be passed against the state division Bill, expectedly plunged the Assembly and Council into pandemonium on Monday.
The Speaker was forced to adjourn the House twice before winding up for the day. The Chief Minister remained in his chambers on the Assembly premises.
Elected representatives from Telangana stalled the proceedings in the Assembly demanding that the CM should immediately withdraw the notice.
Even ministers joined the protests in the well of the Assembly and raised slogans against the Chief Minister. The House reverberated with slogans of ‘CM down down!’ shouted by Telangana ministers and Congress MLAs, including Chief Whip G. Venkata Ramana Reddy and whip E. Anil.
Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha led the attack against Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy. He was seen prompting the ministers to rush to the well of the House. The TRS questioned the continuance of Mr Reddy as CM since he had lost the confidence of his own party members.
Ministers B. Saraiah, D. Sridhar Babu, Dr J. Geeta Reddy, G. Prasada Rao, A. Sudarshan Reddy and V. Sunita Lakshma Reddy joined other Telangana members in the well despite the Speaker imploring them not to enter the well.
Attempts by Vijayawada (West) legislator V. Srinivas to raise counter slogans of ‘CM Zindabad’ did not evoke much of a response from the Seemandhra Congress members.

Hyderabad: The state government has revived the no-objection certificate to Active Power Corporation, a mini hydel power plant owned by V. Radhakrishna, owner of the vernacular daily Andhra Jyothi.
The project is located on the Budameru diversion channel near Vijayawada.
The government had earlier withdrawn the no objection certificate on the grounds that the project had to be dismantled to facilitate the widening of the diversion channel to increase the carrying capacity for the excess flood discharge as well as discharge of Polavaram waters into Krishna River.
The government, instead of disturbing the project, has agreed to a proposal by the company to build a link channel bypassing the mini hydel power plant.
Irrigation principal secretary Aditya Nath Das issued a GO in this regard after the company agreed to bear the cost of the link channel.
The GO, however, did not specify the cost of the link channel, cost of land that will be lost in the new project and the timeline for completion of the link channel.
