Koevermans likely to drop seniors

Wim Koevermans remains firm on his recruitment policy that does not give a chance to those without regular playing time.

Kochi: National football coach Wim Koevermans has been keenly observing talent at the ongoing Federation Cup here and at Manjeri, but remains firm on his recruitment policy that does not give a chance to those without regular playing time.

Having dropped senior members Syed Rahim Nabi, Gouramangi Singh and Subrata Paul for the November friendlies, the Dutchman has declared that he wil do so again if players are short of match fitness for the friendly in March.

‘I have been clear about why those players were left out and I don’t know if I’ll ever use them again unless they play regularly,’ said Koevermans.

‘I am yet to decide on my list of players for the friendly,’ he added.

On the IMG-Reliance contracted players, the former Euro Cupper said he has found a lot of useful players in the tourney, but refuses to give any names.

‘The super league is far away and I’m not sure about what the players will do until then. Their career is harmed when they should never be suffering from any decision made by anyone,’ the Dutch said.
