Collector flags off pulse polio rally

Anantapur: Anantapur Collector D.S. Lokesh Kumar on Saturday called upon all sections of people to join in the pulse polio immunisation drive to eliminate polio menace from Anantapur.

Flagging off a polio awareness rally at Arts college here, the collector asked the people to make the programme being conducted on January 19 and January 21 a grand success. If everyone makes sincere efforts the polio menace would be completely wiped out from the state, Lokesh Kumar said.

The collector said that 3,849 immunisation centres established in the district to administer polio drops at various places besides 115 mobile teams. He said that the mobile vehicles were set up on highways and national highways to administer drops.

He said that 376 supervisors and 15, 216 workers were deployed at booth leavel to impl-ement the programme. He said that the health officials made all arrangements at booth level for administering polio drops on Jan. 19 and health workers would conduct door-to-door visit on Jan. 20 and 21 to vaccinate polio drops to below five year old children.

He said that 4,37, 407 children would be benefitted under the programme in the district. Meanwhile, in Kurnool and Kadapa, the district administrations and health officals made elaborate arrangements to immunise polio drops to children. The officials set up booths at railway and bus stations besides prominent places.
