For Mulayam Yadav, Lok Sabha poll is a full family affair

SP chief Mulayam Yadav is all set to field his entire clan in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

New Delhi: At a time when dynastic politics is being viewed as political anathema, an unfazed Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav appears set to field almost his entire clan in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections Joining the long battery of politicians from within the Yadav clan, the SP chief’s nephew Anshul Yadav looks likely to make his electoral debut from the Sambhal Lok Sabha seat in the 2014 elections.

The clan is currently represented in the Lok Sabha by the SP chief, daughter-in-law Dimple and nephew Dharmendra Yadav, while his cousin Ram Gopal Yadav is a Rajya Sabha member. Another nephew of the SP chief, Akshay Yadav, son of Ram Gopal Yadav, is a party candidate from the Firozabad Lok Sabha constituency.

Prateek Yadav, apparently not wanting to be left behind, is eyeing the Azamgarh seat. Sources said the SP chief has of late been quite keen to ensure a political berth for Prateek Yadav, with whom UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav is said to have quite cold relations.

“Anshul Yadav, son of Rajpal Yadav, a brother of the SP chief, will get the Sambhal Lok Sabha seat, for which he has already staked his claim within the family,” a senior party leader said.
