Usendi’s wife is Jaini, not Raji, say Maoists

The surrender of top Maoist Gudsa Usendi took a new turn on the issue of his wife.

Hyderabad: The surrender of top Maoist Gudsa Usendi took a new turn on Monday with the police and the media receiving a message from CPI Maoists that the woman who surrendered along with Usendi is not his wife.

In an audio message, Dandkaranya special zonal committee secretary Ramanna claimed that Usendi fled the party with another woman. “Usendi’s wife Raji is still with the party, but he has fled with another woman and is claiming her as his wife,” Ramanna alleged.

A senior police official said this was not news to them. “The woman who surrendered is Marakam Santoshi alias Jaini and Usendi told us that he has been living with her for the past one year. Though they are not traditionally married, they are living together. Usendi told us that due to differences, he was separated from Raji, his wife.”

The police officer also said, “The CPI Maoist hasn’t reacted to any surrender in recent times. They have reacted to Usendi’s surrender. This shows that it is a big shock to them and they are worried.” Usendi is believed to be privy to vital information about the party in Chhattisgarh and other parts of India.

The 53-year-old Usendi is from Kadavendi village in Devaruppala mandal in Warangal district.
