'Jilla' ’s success unites Lal and Choudhary

Producer RB Choudhary seems to be a happy and contented man these days.

Producer RB Choudhary seems to be a happy and contented man these days, his recent Pongal production, Vijay’s 'Jilla' having grossed the biggest collections at the box office on the opening day of the film. While talking to DC, Choudhary said, “I am glad 'Jilla, which got released this festive Friday, has opened incredibly well. Since the audiences felt that the movie, which has two mega stars, Vijay and Mohanlal, is a little lengthy with a running time of two hours 52 minutes, director Neason has trimmed it by 10 minutes in some of the post-interval portions. It’s more racy now.”

He also revealed a secret which hardly anyone knows. “I made a film, Keerthi Chakra, with Mohanlal and my son Jiiva in 2006. There were some misunderstandings between me and Lal sir in production, and he refused to dub for the film. We were not on talking terms since then. Now, despite being cast in 'Jilla', we did not speak to each other over all the 56 days that he shot.”

He adds, “But, to my pleasant surprise, after more than seven years, Mohanlal called me from Dubai when 'Jilla' was released in the country and congratulated me, saying the movie was a hit there and the audiences were jumping with joy.”
