Kottayam DCC fed up with PC George

Row over chief whip flagging off Narendra Modi’s run.

Kottayam/Thiruvananthapuram: Kottayam district congress committee president Tomy Kallany has demanded action against Government Chief Whip P. C. George for flagging off the Modi-sponsored Run for Unity in Kottayam on Sunday.

P.C. George’s riposte was a demand that home minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan should resign for dining with a Gujarat government delegation.

Kallany asked KC(M) chairman and finance minister K.M. Mani to take action against George. "George has crossed all limits of political decency”, said Kallany, alleging that Mani was allowing George to make such comments.

Justice K.T. Thomas supports George:? Justice K.T. Thomas said there was nothing wrong in George participating in the 'Run for Unity'.

“The trust (that organizes Sardar Patel statue) has members with affiliation to various political parties and there is nothing wrong in participating in that function”, said Justice Thomas, the chairman of the campaign committee of the trust in Kerala.

George asked the Government to divulge details of talks between chief minister Oommen Chandy, Radhakrishnan and representatives of Gujarat government, notably agriculture and water resources minister Babubhai Bokhiriya, and his jumbo team of legislators.

However, Chandy defended meeting the Gujarat delegation. However he opined that he did not accept any invitation from them regarding the ‘Statue of Unity’. “As chief minister of the State, I extended the courtesy to see the delegation as per their request, as that’s what the protocol demands”, said Chandy.
