Vihari hits double ton for Hyderabad

Hyderabad: G.H. Vihari hit a whirlwind t unbeaten knock of 201 as Hyderabad posted 514/6 declared against Goa in their Ranji Trophy Group 'C' match in Goa on Sunday In reply, Goa were 9 for 0 at stumps.

Resuming from an ( overnight individual score of 44 -with Hyderabad at 234/3 -Vihari tormented the Goa bowlers en route to his maiden first class double century . Vihari found an able partner in B. Sandeep, t who scored 57, as the visitors brushed aside the t Goan bowling attack.

However, Sandeep's dismissal, caught by Saurabh Bandekar in a Hanumant Gadekar delivery, triggered ( a mild chaos as both Ahmed Quadri and Amol Shinde returned to the pavilion in quick succession, even as t Vihari continued his solid t show at the other end.

But just when Goa hoped to gain a modicum of control of the proceedings, Habeeb Ahmed joined Vihari to take Hyderabad to the mammoth total. Habeeb scored an unbeaten 78 as ( the duo scripted an impressive seventh-wicket partnership of 172 runs -the highest of the match.

ANDHRA SKIPPER PRASANTH MISSES 200 Skipper Prasanth Kumar missed out on a much ( deserving double century by a whisker as Andhra Pradesh posted 417 in their first innings and then reduced Himachal Pradesh to 24 for three at stumps on the second day of their Group 'C.' Ranji Trophy match in Visakhapatnam.

Kumar continued his good run with the bat but he lost partners in the other end as R.K. Bhui (7), K. Bharat Reddy (24) and Shiv Kumar (12) -all were dismissed cheaply .

Kumar finally was dismissed at an individual score of 199 off Dhawan's bowling but Andhra had crossed the 350-mark by then. His 422-ball innings was studded with 21 hits to the fence and four sixes.
