Srikakulam (AP): The 21-year-old son of a Congress MLA died in a road accident near here in the early hours of Thursday, police said.
Nimmaka Srinivasa Rao, the only son of Palakonda MLA Nimmaka Sugreevulu, suffered fatal injuries when he fell off his bike while trying to avoid crashing into a bullock cart coming from opposite direction, they said.
The mishap took place at around 2.30 am near Palakonda when Srinivasa was returning to his native village after attending the marriage of a relative.
Srinivasa was studying engineering and also preparing for the civil services exam.
On hearing the tragic news, Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy telephoned Sugreevulu and consoled him. Former Andhra Pradesh Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao, MLAs of Congress and other political parties also spoke to the bereaved family.
