Kerala clinch cycling honours

Kochi: Sanuraj P. won two gold medals as Kerala clinched the overall title of national track cycling championship for ninth consecutive time, at Imphal.

The 15-year-old was one of the star performers for Kerala having won the 5km scratch race and the 500m individual time trial for sub junior boys.

He was clocked at 8:06.47 min in the scratch race and in the time trial his performance was a notable 37.032 secs.

Kerala finished with 16 gold, seven silver and 11 bronze medals. Punjab came second with four gold, nine silver and four bronze medals.

Kerala's most experienced cyclist Mahita Mohan did not disappoint by winning the elite women's 10km scratch race on 17:58.0 min.

Nayana Rajesh, who won the 4km scratch race at a time of 7:25.0 min and Aleena Reji who took gold in 500m individual time trial, clocking 44.138 seconds were two promising youth talents that emerged from the nationals.
